This week we will continue in our summer series on Joseph by looking at Genesis 44:1-34.
Charles Spurgeon defines repentance as “a hatred of sin; it is a turning from sin and a determination in the strength of God to forsake it.” That sounds simple enough. However, it is possible to look repentant, but not really repent at all. Joseph was well aware of this problem and tested his brothers, providing an opportunity to come clean. This was the moment Joseph was waiting for.
As Paul wrote to the Corinthians, “Examine yourselves to see whether you are in the faith; test yourselves.” (2 Cor. 13:5) Perhaps it’s time for a heart check-up, in the strength of God.
See you in church!
