This week we celebrate Palm Sunday, the day of Jesus’ triumphant entrance into Jerusalem a few days before His death on the cross. Prepare your heart for worship this week by reading Luke 19:28-48.
Holy Week can be a sobering time, as we witness all that Jesus endured in order to save us. It’s a good time to ask some probing questions and spend some time searching our hearts. Pastor and author J. I. Packer wrote, “If I understand God’s love, why do I ever grumble and show discontent and resentment at the circumstances in which God has placed me? Why am I ever distrustful, fearful, or depressed? Why do I ever allow myself to grow cool, formal, and halfhearted in the service of the God who loves me so? Why do I ever allow my loyalty to be divided, so that God has not all my heart?”
Why, indeed. This year, let’s offer not just a part, but all.
Songs we’re singing this week:
8:00 a.m. — “Come, Christians, Join to Sing” and “Rejoice, Ye Pure in Heart”
10:30 a.m. — “Light Shine In”, “10,000 Reasons”
