This week we will look at the Ascension of Jesus to His rightful place on the throne in heaven as recorded in Acts 1:1-11.
This was a time of transition for the early believers. Jesus’ life on earth was completed and it was time to pass the baton to the disciples. For forty days after the resurrection, Jesus taught them, walked with them, ate with them and instructed them. Luke begins his book “The Acts of the Apostles” with this group of eleven men looking up into the sky, rejoicing and worshiping. This ascension was more than Jesus just leaving earth — it was the King of kings taking His place on the throne; it was crowning the Lord of lords with honor and glory. “And God placed all things under his feet and appointed him to be head over everything for the church.” Eph. 1:22
