Showdown on Mt. Carmel

This week I will be preaching on 1 Kings 18, one of the most exciting chapters in the Old Testament!

I find it fascinating that after the big contest on Mt. Carmel, there is such a difference between the reactions of Elijah and King Ahab.  Ahab, who ought have been bowing before God and seeking God’s forgiveness, was eating and drinking. Elijah, who we might have expected to be rejoicing over God’s great victory, was on his knees acknowledging God in prayer. This amazing contrast shows the true character of these men.

How we respond in times of prosperity, victory, and success is a good measure of our characters, too.

Hope to see you this Sunday at Worship!
