This week’s message will be from Acts 4:1-12. Peter and John were brought before the Sanhedrin to explain how they were able to heal a crippled man. Peter gave them more than they asked for.
There is an important warning in this passage for the contemporary church. We (the church in general) seem to be working very hard to be attractive to the world. We want people to feel comfortable. We want folks to enjoy their experience. We want them to see the church as the place to be.
But we also need to understand that the church cannot be popular in this world without watering down the message of the gospel. To be popular with the world, we need to re-define sin, talk more about man’s inherent goodness, and avoid words like repentance, judgment and hell. And if we want to be popular we need to forget about Acts 4:12.
See you on Sunday!
