Blessed and Grateful

This week’s message will be drawn from 1 John 2:12-14 as we continue our series on 1 John.

The old gospel hymn “Count Your Blessings” is full of good advice. “Count your blessings, name them one by one. Count your many blessings see what God has done.”

What are some of your blessings? Family, health, provision, food to eat, a place to live, friends? Those are all wonderful blessings, but John reminds us that we have even greater treasures that are often forgotten or overlooked. This week, expand your list of blessings to include these:

  • We have been forgiven and granted eternal life due to the work of Christ.
  • We are sure of victory over the devil because of our position in Christ and we no longer have to give in to the sins of the past.
  • We have come to know the true and living God and no longer have to be driven by the things of this world that will not last.

Keep counting! See you in church!
